Peter Kidson
(Farmer)

Where are you from?

Johannesburg.

Do you have much acting and/or production (stage or TV) experience? What was your acting debut, and how old were you?

Yes. I started acting at age ten as the Midshipmite Tom Tucker in HMS Pinafore. All I can remember of this now is staring fixedly at my little friends in the front row, trying not to smirk, and periodically remembering with a jolt that I was meant to be singing, moving around, etc. My mother says I could only march with my arms totally out of sync ( ie left arm and left leg forward together, instead of left leg right arm forward together ).

About fifteen years later I joined an Anthroposofist drama group, and did some cameo roles in an adaptation of The Little Prince - the Businessman and the Railway Switchman.

After another ten years I enlisted in a grueling Method Acting class, in which I met my future wife. Rehearsing a sketch, the impish lass broke with the script in frustration and emptied a jug of water over me. Everyone (else) applauded.

Recently - after another fifteen year gap - I have specialised in bit parts as photographers in plays with the Horsell Amateur Dramatic Society (HADS) of Woking.

How did you get involved in Fluffy?

Used to work with Henry.

Why did you audition for the part of Farmer?

Henry's suggestion.

Is this your first film, or have you been involved in other films?

Yes. Foiled.

Are you a Buffy fan?

No. I've only seen bits here and there.

What have you gained from your involvement in Fluffy?

Red wine.

Do you have any claims to fame? (E.g. meeting famous people, appearances on TV / stage etc.)

Yes. On TV with Chris Evans and my parrot. A number of amdram productions, see above.

Any hobbies / obsessions? (Things you enjoy doing)

As a youth I was heavily into motorbikes and skydiving. Oh yes - and beer.

Any amusing / mad stories about things you've done, or have happened to you?

I had to pay a fine and spend a weekend in jail for streaking after some skydiving-and-drinking malarky. My family learned of this from the front page of a national newspaper.

And I spent another whole week working unpaid in the chocolate section of a large hotel's kitchen, in return for not being prosecuted by the hotel for climbing inside their 700 Kg chocolate Easter egg in the foyer, and jumping up and down inside it like an angry chicken embryo until my legs broke through the bottom. This also made it to the front page of a national newspaper.

Any achievements you'd like to mention?

I have had over 1000 letters to the press printed - the first one when I was eight - often under pseudonyms such as my anagramatic name of Derek Piston.

I also started a campus newspaper called Forum, modelled on Private Eye (back in the days when it was funny).

If you could meet one person dead or alive, who would it be?

Ada Byron, Lady Lovelace (the world's first computer programmer, and daughter of the poet).
