I worked in Durham for a bit and became quite attached to Newcastle Brown Ale and Castle Eden. Have just recenlty been able to get Newcastle here but no hopes for Castle Eden. I imagine you're' still in the editing process but any hopes for festival showings? Anything in pre-production or competed scripts perhaps? Let me know as I'm quite interested and may be able to offer some assistance in the funding areas. Kit

I have ambition to be a MAJOR writer/director. If anyone else can relate, E-mail me.

All filmmakers--professional, commercial, independent and/or students are welcome to enter. I am also particularly concerned that our festival NOT be confused with another group called the San Diego World Film Festival. We are in no way affiliated with them and do not endorse their organization. Anyone who would like to have forms mailed to them can write to: San Diego International Film Festival Dept 0078, UEO, UCSD 9500 Gilman Drive La Jolla, California 92093-0078 or email requests to: rbaily@ucsd.edu. I'm a hopeful script-writer so I can empathise with the whole distribution thang. Remember, like Oscar said We're all in the gutter, but some of us are looking up at the stars. So keep watching the stars. But don't watch Star, she's just a kid.

Comments: I randomly found your web page, I don't remember how, but Foiled sounds like an execellent first full-length movie! I've been trying to make films myself with a new friends, and I know how hard it is. So far we've made a stop-start animation film called Happybread, and are working on a documentary, This Isn't Real Life. However, access to editing equipment in this small town is limited...oh well. Keep up the good work! Sheep Man sounds wonderful too. I'd like to see Foiled when you finish it, though I don't know how possible that is. E-mail me when you're done though, I'd like to know how it turned out. In the meantime, good luck!

Blimey! This takes me back to my youth, when some friends
and I made our own film entitled 'Fiction'. Strangely, the
storyline was remarkably similar to yours! Hmm.
Unfortunately, we couldn't finish it due to our inability
to find anywhere in the Yorkshire Dales where we could buy
explosives (for the crucial "House gets hit by lightning"
scene)! If you could pass on the address of your theatrical
pyro supplier, I would be greatful!

Paul..

PS. I wouldn't worry about shooting on SVHS, we shot ours on
Video8 and it looked okay. As long as you light your scenes
so that they don't look 'flat', you should be alright.
